Yvonne Z. Smith is President and co-founder of Recovery2000/The Recovery Group, a partnership of mental health consumers. The Recovery Group (TRG) established October 2004 in the District of Columbia. Members of TRG support and encourage mental health consumer-clients in recovery. Yvonne Smith trained in mental health wellness recovery and action planning (WRAP), and mentored with nationally recognized recovery expert Mary Ellen Copeland. Ms. Smith is a board member of the DC Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI-DC). She facilitates NAMI-DC’s weekly combined family and consumer support group. Yvonne Z. Ms. Smith is a faculty member at the Department of Mental Health Institute in Washington DC, where she trains peer support workers. She is a member of Voice for Work--a national group of persons with disabilities--working to change the way the Social Security Administration interacts with beneficiaries on work issues.

| Testimonials: |
Let me tell you about Juliet(1); , a young woman who spent thirteen years in and out of the hospital. She participated in our peer support program last Christmas. Juliet now has a part-time job, is living in her own apartment, has been regularly visiting with her teenage daughter on weekends, and best of all this will be the first Christmas that Juliet has not been in the hospital in over a decade! The Recovery Group can help change the lives of others like Juliet and her family with your support. |
